To be responsible for attending to the personal care needs of residents and Day Care service users with a view to creating a supportive and homely atmosphere in which residents/clients can achieve their maximum independence, stimulation and choice.
To attend and/or assist with the personal, practical, and social/emotional care of residents and other clients of the Home, enabling them to meet their individual needs.
To administer medication in accordance with care plan, medication records and departmental policy and procedures.
To undertake continual appropriate record keeping, including completion of personal care records, medication records and care plans.
To undertake all duties in accordance with departmental policy, procedures and practice, including health and safety at work.
To promote a positive image of the service by attaining a high professional standard and approach at all times.
To develop the appropriate skills and knowledge of care by attendance and participation in supervision, monitoring meetings and training courses.
Act as a key worker having particular responsibility for the care of a group of assigned residents, including introduction to the Home, contribution to the continual assessment of care plans, and contribute information for reviews and/or case conferences, on individual residents/clients.
Promote clients’ rights/choice as outlined in “Charter of Rights” for residents.
Care Staff must respect the confidential nature of the care they give and must adhere to the code of conduct at all times.
All staff must maintain and promote quality standards in respect of client care and the Home.
Care Staff must promote positive teamwork by working closely with colleagues, other professionals and other departments.
They will carry this out by being supportive flexible, reliable, honest and understanding of others’ needs and views.
Notify Duty Officer of any significant change in the residents or clients.
To undertake any duties of a similar level, as directed by the Residential Homes Manager.
Care Staff to participate in social activities organised by the Resource Centre.
Care Staff to ensure laundry requirements are met. Carry out domestic duties as directed and/or appropriate….Basic Level of Education
Qualities and Qualifications
Ability to assist clients in daily living. Caring and sympathetic attitude to the needs of the elderly.
Able to work on own initiative and/or as part of a team.
Must be willing to undertake basic training as appropriate.
Adaptable/flexible in hours worked including weekends and Bank Holidays.
Desirable: • NVQ Level 2, • Moving and handling course, Basic food hygiene course, • First Aid course….
