Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects nerves in the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of symptoms including problems with muscle movement, balance and vision. The condition affects more than 100,000 people in the UK. MS symptoms vary, but can include issues with balance and dizziness, fatigue, pain, visual problems, stiffness and spasms. It can also affect memory and thinking, and may have an impact on a person’s emotional wellbeing.
Multiple Sclerosis – Support at home
A diagnosis of MS can be life changing, but it certainly does not have to mean a loss of independence. Home care offers a solution which enables you to stay in the comfort and familiarity of your own home, living life your way with choice and independence, through personalised one-to-one support. A professional carer will offer practical help with day-to-day activities but can also support you to set goals, take control and help you cope with arising challenges, whilst helping you to maintain self-esteem.
Working in partnership with the MS Society
We always endeavor to adapt best practice during service delivery, by benchmarking our service with reputable Society that supports the diagnosed illness. Our multiple sclerosis service has been developed by following patients feedback and society’s recommended practice.
This service is delivered by highly trained carers. Our support at home can be delivered as 24 hour live in service or as day care and is available for short breaks or a more permanent arrangement if you require.
Respite and Holiday Services
You can opt for holiday services whereby our clients benefit which allows you the flexibility to take your carer with you on holiday, wherever you go whether in the UK or overseas. This may enable the whole family to enjoy time away together.
There are also times when a short respite service could be invaluable allowing a family carer a much-needed break. Our flexible respite service offers unrivalled one-to-one assistance and support; everything from personal care and domestic support and cooking, through to lifestyle support and social activities. Our 24 hour managed service means that clients and their families can be rest assured that they are in safe hands.
